John McCrocklin & Associates, Inc. was founded in 1970 as Jim McCrocklin & Associates Real Estate Inc. by James H. (Jim) and Harriett McCrocklin, and John McCrocklin to concentrate exclusively on a full range of real estate services and product types including residential, farms & ranches, vacant land for commercial and residential use, resort, commercial, real estate consulting and commercial property management services in the Austin/San Antonio and Central Texas real estate market areas. They also focused on apartment, office, retail, mini-storage, industrial warehouse and residential subdivision development in Hays & Travis Counties. Upon Jim’s death in 1998, John H. McCrocklin took responsibility as the company's designated corporate officer and the company's name was changed to John McCrocklin & Associates, Inc.

John McCrocklin and Associates sold its downtown location and relocated in 2004 to a temporary office location at 1004 Cypress Creek Lane in Wimberley. The temporary move was necessary while the firm was waiting on the completion of zoning and utility infrastructure requirements for its newest office project, the Crossroads Town Center. The Crossroads Town Center will hopefully be coming to Wimberley in 2005 subject to a wastewater line extension. Crossroads Town Center will consist of thirteen buildings, totally 37,500 square feet, with a mixture of office, retail, restaurant, financial service and other ancillary commercial uses. The Crossroads’ features will include an early Texana/Germanic architectural building style, all underground utilities, parking, and extensive landscaping with fountains. The project will be located at the intersection of Ranch Road 12 and Cypress Creek Lane. In San Marcos, the company remodeled an existing office building at 1503 Aquarena Springs Drive, Ste. A, across the street from Mamacitas Restaurant, for its San Marcos office.
